Welcome to an official site of CAAD, Central Athletic Association of the Deaf, CAAD region is under jurisdiction of this association shall be composed of the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Erie, Pennsylvania.
In 1944, 1st Annual Men's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament hosted in Detroit, Michigan. One later year in September 1945, CAAD organized and formed Softball Council in Akron, Ohio. First CAAD Executive Board was President/Commissioner, Sanford Robey Burns (Deceased), Vice President/Deputy Commissioner, William Hope Potter and Secretary-Treasurer, James Ellerhorst (Deceased). 16 years later, CAAD changed from Fast-Pitch to Slow-Pitch for Men Softball Tournament in 1961. An enthusiasm group of women in 1966 wanted to play softball at same place where the men softball players are fielding, hitting and running in the sun, everyone in CAAD with a hearty to be thrilling to host CAAD 23rd Men’s and 1st Women’s Annual Softball Tournament in Akron, Ohio.
In 1946, CAAD Basketball Council formed and 1st Annual CAAD Men's Basketball Tournament hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana. Almost nearly 50 years, a finally occur in 1993 a delight feeling to be given a coming news for women wanted to dribble, pass and shooting the balls and play defense in their eyes from watching the men basketball players at previous tournaments to host CAAD 48th Men’s and 1st Women’s Annual Basketball Tournament in Flint, Michigan.
3rd Additional CAAD's Sport was Volleyball in 1978 to form Volleyball Council together with 1st Annual CAAD Volleyball Tournament hosted in Buffalo, New York.
CAAD is affiliated with National Deaf Basketball Organization (NDBO) in 2010 and National Softball Association of the Deaf (NSAD) since 1976.
